Prevention of Parent to Child Transmission (PPTCT)
The ICTC centers established under Public Private Partnership by APSACS are also the center for Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT). All the partners (Medical Colleges) conduct regular HIV testing to all the ANC mothers as per APSACS / NACO protocols. The HIV positive mothers are followed up for the PMTCT services like Institutional Deliveries and ARV.

Peer counselors appointed by APAIDSCON in these 15 ICTC centers do regular follow up of the positive mothers and motivate them for institutional deliveries and ARV.

The activities under PPTCT are: 

  • HIV Counseling and testing for ANC mothers
  • Follow up of positive ANC mothers
  • Motivation and linking up for institutional delivery
  • Ensuring ARV (Nevirapine) administration to mother and baby pairs
  • Follow up of the mother and child post delivery
